Anyone else hear the news?

What do you think about it, an end to the Cuban Embargo soon?
I doubt it. tongue.gif

Artice here

Of course us Americans on our high-and-mighty horse run in and 'demand' something.
Funny how we always seem to demand something when it's most likey to happen on its own.

Discuss.

Wow, that would be really great for democracy if there are free elections there. I hope this happens so people can finally flee from Cuba

Most people are under the impression though that it's not really a "free election" more or so there will be an election where people he wants in office will be in office.

Either way this could be a huge thing for Cuba and a few other countries. ( USA included )

I hadn't heard about this until now. Seems good for American interests though...seeing as the American government wanted him out for some time tongue.gif.

If history is going to hold true, I smell a rigged election coming up sad.gif.

Poor cuba sad.gif.

As far as I'm concerned it will be as rigged as Saddam's 100% approval rate dry.gif I wish I could say otherwise but things likely will not change for Cuba. sad.gif

Seeing as his brother is taken over for him I do not see much of a change in store for Cuba. Watching the news this morning as well, they were saying his brother was actually more violent and extreme then Fidel was. blink.gif

Fidel's brother is a lot more concerned about tending the the Cuban people, rather than just trying to start a revolution. In the event of a rigged election (which is certainly possible), Cuba is still better off.

Though that doesn't mean democracy will pop into the picture. It MAY pop up once Fidel is dead, probably not beforehand though.

I read about this in yesterday's paper. I don't really know much about Castro besides he didn't get out
in public much because of intestinal issues. O.O

Maybe things will improve for Cuba.... ?

Better off but not free. In the words of Ms. Estefan... "Quiero my Cuba libre pa que la gente pueda - pa que mi gente pueda bailar!"
