Very rarely were pirates ever sober, and teamwork isn't usually an option, because they were mainly looking out for themselves.

They do have their place in epic battles though.

I think that pirates and ninjas both have their unique advantages and disadvantages. I mean, if you are in the middle of a jungle where there is room to cloak, I'd prefer to have ninjas to my disposal. If I were in the open seas where ships needed taking down, I'd round up some pirates.

You can't sneak up on a ship or you'd drown. And the pirate's posse would catch you and chuck you off the ship before you could try sneaking behind a pirate anyway.

EDIT* originally I was in the midst of writting about the history of piracy and pirates and relised while informative it was rather boring and nobody would bother reading it all in conclusion pirates are seriously under estimated badass assassins but ninja's are just plain cooler
