Anyone else listen to Coheed at all? smile.gif

For those of you who don't know, they're a progressive rock with song lyrics based on a story that the lead singer, Claudio Sanchez, has been writing.

The story, The Amory Wars, is about a star system called "Heaven's Fence," which is linked by visible energy. Early in the story, Coheed Kilgannon is told by Mayo Deftinwolf, the General of the Red Army, that he harbors a virus that had been carried on in his children and must kill them before it mutates and destroys the worlds.

QUOTE ("Official synopsis")
Man and wife Coheed and Cambria are used as the centerpiece to enable Supreme Tri-Mage Wilhelm Ryan's attempt at destroying his archrival Mage, Mariah Antillarea.
Due to a memory swiping years ago, the couple are lead to believe that their former
lives have now come back to haunt them. They’re told by General Mayo Deftinwolf (Ryan's Right hand) that they were long ago implanted with a great threat to Heaven’s Fence, The Monstar Virus. A virus with the ability to turn its host (Coheed) into a being powerful enough to drain the Keywork's energy sources to spark Armageddon, while their dear old counterpart, Inferno was given the only means to unlock it.
Through more lies, they are led to believe their children have genetically acquired a mutated form of the virus, the Sinstar. This new strain only requires its host to mature to a certain age, and has no antidote unlike the Monstar. Their children cannot be saved and time will not side with them. Coheed and Cambria are faced with an unimaginable dilemma: to murder their own children or face Armageddon.

The story gets much deeper as it unfolds and centers around Claudio Kilgannon (The sole survivor of the Kilgannon family) and his eventual realization that he is destined to become The Crowing and destroy the Heaven's Fence, releasing the trapped souls.

They are probably the best band I've seen live that I don't listen too super often. At Warped this year, they owned. Their singer is amazing.

Talk about a high pitched queer* who sings those songs. I mean, Christ! Even Geddy Lee sings OK, that kid does helium or some shit. And they have no damn groove whatsoever. I don't see many people singing a Coheed tune because it's just too insanely over the top, but not even good over the top like Frank Zappa is. Even Dream Theater at least has good chops.

Point is folks, listen to Rush or Primus for some real music.

* I don't hate gay people, but sorry, queer is just a great word
