So I just felt a small lump a bit less than an inch in diameter on my neck under the skin. Throbs slightly if I poke it. Located on neck under the chin. No symptoms.

Do I need to bother getting it checked out? blink.gif

Unless the Adam's Apple is foreign to you and you've been poking your manliness, you might want to get that checked on if you can.

By under the chin do you mean like, sort of under the back your jaw?

If it's near your neck under the jaw then you have a swollen gland. It's what doctors are checking for when they feel the sides of your neck when you come in when you're sick.

If it's swollen than it means your sick but usually it should go away after a while. It could just be a cold or something, even if you don't feel sick or anything. I had that earlier this month. Just drink some extra orange juice and take your vitamins.

If it doesn't go away after a week, go to the doctor.

If you really mean under the chin, I'm not too sure. Maybe an infection. Do you have a tongue piercing?

Could be your lymph nodes are swollen, which is a good sign for certain sickness and cancer.

I'd get it checked out if you've got any form of insurance.

It's better to be safe than sorry I suppose, so if it doesn't appear to be getting any better, I would check with a doctor or something if you can. Whenever I have lumps that appear, it's usually swollen glands because I'm sick or there's an infection or something.

I also suggest you get it looked at by a professional. Even if it's a swollen lymphnode, it doesn't mean you do or you don't have some illness more severe than a cold.

However, one of my best friends had a lump in her throat, and had thyroid cancer.

You should get any funny lumps checked.

Also she was 15 at the time.

There's some pics on there of swollen lymph noids and other causes for a neck lump. I would say it's most likely a swollen lymph noid though. smile.gif

Freak, I think it's in your best interest to just get a physicians point of view on this. It could be none of these things and just a swollen gland, or it could be more serious. Don't let internet people scare you though and just find out for yourself. tongue.gif

I have a cyst somewhat near where yours is. (Mine is around my chin though) and yours seems bigger than mine. So idk. I say cut the thing off x_X
