This happened on Saturday in the English Premierleague. The victim was Eduardo, one of Arsenals in-form players. He had just started playing for the team after joining them in the January transfer window.

The chances are he will not play for more than a year and there is even the possibility he may never play again. It really is a shame....I don't support Arsenal but they are a great team to watch and Eduardo was an important part of that.

The short clip below is of the tackle that caused the injury. WARNING The injury was a double compund fracture of the leg/ankle...meaning the bone came through the skin. It can actually be seen sticking out of his sock. His foot near as dammit comes off.

Discuss:What this means (if anything) for the rest of Arsenals season and that of Eduardo's career, the tackle itself....and to keep it general....we can talk about any severe injuries any of us may have suffered while playing sport.

Actually they expect him to be back by the end of the year.

(Also, how dare you put "soccer" in the title... dry.gif)

You're right! Screw this soccer crap tongue.gif

Yeah I heard they expected him back earlier than initially thought...but then I read that Arsenal were being very optimistic and that it would take much longer.

It's just like when Cisse broke his leg too.

Or Henrik Larsson a few years ago

Nasty...

Both Larssons and Cisses breaks were strange. They seem nothing compared to Eduardos in terms of impact....yet they break so easily. Especially Larssons. I mean the opposing player barely touches his leg and it snaps.

I guess it just shows how fragile we are.

it's a pretty bad injury as well as a loss for arsenal, however eduardo claims he will definitely play again and a statement was released that he could be back this year.

also...expecting and watching a video on youtube is one thing, but watching it live is a lot different. two of my friends somehow missed it, but i nearly spit the beer out my mouth tongue.gif

Jesus Christ, that would hurt immensely.
I've seen some really, REALLY nasty things online, but for some reason fractures still seem to give me the heeby-geebities.
