QUOTE
AHMADABAD, India - A newborn baby girl fell through the toilet in a moving train and onto the tracks moments after her mother prematurely gave birth, surviving nearly two hours before being found, relatives said Thursday. The child's mother, who uses the single name Bhuri, was traveling with relatives on an overnight train when she went to the bathroom shortly before midnight Tuesday and unexpectedly gave birth to a baby girl, said Arjun Kumar, her brother-in-law.

"Later, she fell unconscious and the baby fell through the toilet," he continued. "Two stations later, we knocked at the door." Bhuri opened the door, soaked in blood.

"When we asked her about what happened, she said the baby had fallen through onto the tracks," Kumar said.

Toilets on Indian trains usually have holes that open directly onto the tracks, and there were no indications Thursday that authorities doubted Bhuri's story or planned to investigate the incident.

Kumar said that after finding Bhuri, relatives pulled the train's emergency brake and told railway officials what had happened. A search was quickly organized, and guards at one of the stations the train had passed soon found the baby.

"She was on the rail track for almost 1 1/2 to two hours," said Dr. Gautam Jain, a pediatrician at Rajasthan Hospital in Ahmadabad, in the western state of Gujarat, where the baby and mother were taken.

The child, who has not yet been named, was eight to 10 weeks premature, weighed only 3.22 pounds, Jain said. She had a low heart rate and body temperature.

"We do not expect such children to survive," Jain said.

That has got to be one of the luckiest babies ever.
Imagine the story her parents will be able to tell her.

Like....You will never guess what happened a few seconds after you were born!!!

*Daughter gives in*

I dropped you out the bottom of a moving train through the toilet!!

....you just wouldn't tell her that story tongue.gif

That is one damn lucky baby though. Surviving the initial fall and impact was amazing....but surviving for nearly 2 hours in the middle of nowhere exposed to the elements when you could fit in the palm of someones hand is something else.

At that size the baby could have been eaten by any number of animals as well blink.gif

I'm more surprised she was able to give birth to a baby that quickly. Makes me think it was probably not her first. And ummm foogie... that's a common practice in many countries wink.gif

The baby was fortunate she was not more premature. Even so I'm surprised her lungs could function at that point. It's really quite amazing.

How does a baby just fall out of you... this story smells mysteriously fishy to me. another question though, how'd the umbilical cord snap if the baby was that premature, shouldn't it have held, since the baby was so light? 1we8.gif

yup I was thinking the same thing when my boyfriend and I talked about it I HAD A KID and all though she was 10 week preme they are not that easy to come out someone would have 1 heard her, and 2 when she came to from passing out it wouldn't of took people to come see what was taking her so long and her to answer the door bloody... she would have been screaming and crying tfor someone to help her.... but then again there is the umbilical cord what did the baby cut it its self? ...then I watched the video and the mother has a strange look on her face.... something is fishy!~

I agree.

&& crazy story. I wouldn't expect a baby to just BE BORN whilst using the bathroom. Maybe she "strained" too much.
Hell, she COULD have been trying to get rid of it. No one really knows.
&& IF NOT, there's probably something wrong with her insides... for a baby to be born -that- easily. -shrug-
