Anyone here addicted to something?
I am...but I won't tell because I'm so ashamed of it T_T

Is it hard or easy to get rid of addiction?
For me it's been SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard....it sucks really.
I don't like being an addict...I feel like a fool. sorry.gif

But now, I plan to be free of addiction.. using my will and my mind, I believe I can do it....who else wants to take a pledge?

Let's stop being addicts and mentally weakened due to things that are not as they seem.

Discuss addiction and it's effects on you/someone else *no names needed*/ or society.
or we can widen the topic and talk about things that hinder society or individuals...such as procrastination
=/

What are you addicted to? The only thing I can think of that would be embarrassing is masturbation. Even then, the fun should wear off eventually and you'll stop doing it...

I'm addicted to the internet/video game I suppose. I'm a little self conscious about it but picking yourself apart in your thoughts is not the way to go I've realized.

I'm a big procrastinator too. I still manage to do well in most cases, but I'm sure this procrastination will fuck me over sometime in the future.

That's very good of you to get rid of your addiction, whatever it may be. Addictions are bad but you also need to know when something is an addiction. Everything in moderation as they say tongue.gif.

Was/am still addicted to diet coke. Legitimately addicted. I gave it up a few times in the past but usually started up again. This time round it took me half a day to debate and argue for an hour straight as to why I should be allowed it again (despite asking him previously to help me stop). I get legitimate bad cravings, and suffer severe headaches and really bitchy mood during the first week I stop.
I believe I've gone without for 2 months and one week now.

Also, I think it's safe to say I get addicted to games or sites, but not as much as I have in the past, I don't actually care that much anymore. I'm down to just codex, and sadly got back into neopets after an extended leave from it.

Thanks to you I broke my addiction of diet soda smile.gif

Internet
porn
music
energy drinks

used to be addicted to: wow

Also, I don't get the addiction with cigarettes. I used to smoke quite a lot cause I wanted to, then I thought bah cba to waste money on it and quit cold turkey. No problems what so ever.

I don't know if i'm fully addicted but when there available I'll drink sometimes 9 in a short-time span. But it's not like I have to run to the store and get one when they've gone.

I have no addictions. Buddhists can't. Can't fathom harming my body that way. It makes me sad for the people I know that are addicted. Most of them don't even know it, so you guys are at least a step ahead of them. Congrats to those of you that have quit your addictions; its a really positive use of your willpower smile.gif

Cigarettes and codeine.
IDK if i'm really addicted.. I just happen to do it often. I guess it's just the atmosphere I'm in these days.
Yeah, pretty pathetic. I promised myself to stay away from cigarettes a few years ago, that worked thumbsup.gif

In the past few weeks I've had a few cigarettes (haven't smoked them before then). I can't say I enjoy the feeling (what little I get) but I enjoy the action. The act is a really good ice breaker.

BUT, I'm reading a book called the Cigarette Century, which has really exposed the why behind my apparently innate attraction to cigarettes. Its really despicable. If any other industry had advertised to kids the way cigarettes did, they would have been sued up the ass and probably forced into bankruptcy. Cigarettes got slammed in the late nineties, but the same companies (and brands) are still around to benefit from the illegal advertising they conducted. Despicable.

Oh smoking...how I miss it. *Sigh* I've met some of my greatest friends through smoking, true story. Haven't smoked in 6 months now though.

Only thing I can really be considered addicted to these days is violin practise. wacko.gif And that's quite badly so, in that if I don't get a chance to practise every day I get very irritable and unable to concentrate on anything else.

Pokémon, Neopets and just gaming in general for me. I don't make a gigantic fuss if I can't play anything, but I do get irritated if my internet goes down or my power goes out and I can't. >_>

I'm also addicted to my boyfriend..for more reasons than one, but it's not exactly a bad thing. wink.gif

Not really an addiction I would say, but I have an OCD where when i get nervous or something I pull out hairs - eyebrow and eyelashes mostly...

I went through a really bad time in high school when i first got it, I had no eyebrows and no eyelashes... had to draw them on every morning with eyeliner.

it was the hardest thing to overcome, because I would just do it subconsciously, and then catch myself doing it after a few hairs were already pulled.

I still have it to this day, but I can stop myself faster.

as a result, I do have my lovely full eyelashes, but I have quite badly formed eyebrows. I still give in every now and then and pluck out an eyelash or two with my tweezers when I'm tweezing my eyebrows (I have to do it alot or I'll have a unibrow lol) which I know is bad, but part of the OCD is that it totally feels good.

I limit myself to only what needs to be removed in tweezing the eyebrows, but it's extremely hard to keep to that limit.... I plan to get lazer hair removal so i no longer have to pluck, which is always the initial temptation to go a little further. so eliminating the need to go there in the first place I think will definitely help.

but still, if I ever get really stressed about something, one can immediately tell... I'll have a patch missing from my eyelashes. XD because of that I've really had to just... chill out. it takes a lot now to work me up, because I've become a very relaxed person.

Oblivion sad.gif Damn you Elder Scrolls!! Oh, and I wouldn't call it an addiction but I would call it a control problem. I need to know everything about everything that I'm thinking and feeling to an obsession. Essentially I know too much already and I need to know more and more and more and more and it's killing me tongue.gif It's actually effecting my psychologically. Why oh why did I ever go into this field of study?
