Fires can be particularly scary for people who aren't used to them, but when you live where I do in the summer it's a common occurrence. Everything's so dry so it's not a big surprise when the mountain behind your house becomes burnt to a crisp whenever there's a lightning storm. I do really understand how frighting it can be. First fire since I moved from Maryland I freaked out because we all had to be evacuated from our homes. I mean when it happens so close to home you're like HOLY SHIT AHHHHH!

Damn, that's a big fire. I was thinking that it was the chemicals in the ice packs that probably caused the explosion. Good thing you weren't closer. I hope everything gets fixed soon enough.

Did the fire damage any other buildings besides the Ice Pack store?

I was coming home from work at 5 on saturday and I noticed a huge cloud of black smoke in the sky. Turned out a fire started at an Ice Pack cool store and massive explosions happened shortly after, killing a fireman (first one to die in 25 years). The fire is maybe a 10 or 15 minute drive away from where I live and the explosions could be heard and felt up to 20 minutes away.

It's just incredible really.

Thats kind of ironic.
Back in October there were a lot of fires near my house. Pretty scary. Luckily none of them came close to us. I cant imagine losing an entire house.

Oh wow Glad to hear your ok though. I've been through very few fire experiences in my life. They happen a lot in Detroit, but almost never where I live. I do remember driving by a rather large fire about 10 miles from my house. No one was hurt, but the house was completely destroyed. Apparently the family living there was in financial trouble, so that's the last thing they needed.
