One repping just doesnt sound like a good exercise.

typically it is not a good excercise. but it is neccessary to guage how far you have come in a particular excercise. this way you can change ur workout accordingly

Speaking of changing workouts accordingly, any of you guys think my upper body workout is proportionally balanced?

135 bench-4-6 reps
40lbs plus ez curl bar 21 bicep exercise
Easily 50lbs tricep overhead extensions 10-15 reps
30lbs x2 shoulder presses-10-12 reps
+ some forearm curls/abs which I think are balanced
Dont really do too much for my back

What you said about changing your workout accordingly just made me think about that. All my buddies are like it's cool but I know I slacked hard on shoulder exercises during the first couple months and sometimes just did bicep and triceps on times I was feeling lazy. Does it matter?

i mean it depends on what you are trying to do. but in a quick answer, yes skimping on shoulders will in turn hurt your triceps especially... chest as welll. this is because most tricep and chest excercises use your shoulders. and i would consider doing some neck and back.

this is just a suggestion i dont lift to get bigger. i lift to be better at football. which means more explosive. so i dont do any body sculpting type stuff anymore

Nah, it is just his attempt to enlarge his e-penis. rolleyes.gif

Edit: Well, since I've posted in here (I've been trying to avoid it, some of my lifts suck. -cough- Bench -cough-)
Bench- Terrible... Everyone always says it should be around your clean numbers... I wish it was. 1we8.gif
Squat- Not 100% sure, but around 300. (It is 5-4-3-2-1 week this week, and Friday is Squat/Bench day, and the weight room is closed for the 4th)
Clean (Favorite lift)- 192 according to 1 rep max calculator.

Well in my case my legs are a lot stronger than my upper body so with my new form where i drop when i clean the weight and then squat it back up im able to do alot more. But most of my friends bench more than they clean and jerk so it all depends on you.

Yeahhh. Thats how i fucked up my shoulder. Tendons connecting the bicept to the shoulder and the tricept to the shoulder i completely screwed up. But yet i keep doing them so i cant complain. No one to blame but myself.

Holy hell. So your a pretty big guy??

I have no idea what a plit jerk is. Would that be like a clean and jerk without the jerk?? A power clean??

well i started lifting a little when i was in 8th grade. but that was very very minimal.basically just learning bench and squat.

then i lifted throughout high school getting serious in my junior year. now i am about to be a junior in college. and i have to lift everyday for my football team... i started doing cleans and jerks when i got up here. so to answer your question... ive been lifitng for 7 or 8 years. but only seriously for like 3 or 4

Wow so youve been at it for awhile. Im a junior in high school so this will be my 3rd year lifting.

I started out benching like 85. lol. Gone up from 85 to 260 lbs in 2 years. Not bad i guess for a little 150 pound kid.

That's because it is a test....not a method of training as such tongue.gif.

Unless you guys are training for competitions then you are doing exercises that are uneccessary tongue.gif. If you are training just to improve your physique and fitness then there is no reason to some of the exercises you are talking about....they cause injury much too often and are bad for your back.

Everyone to their own I guess.

Also...I work in a gym and there some guys who compete in on regular basis that train there. None of them can lift what some of you are claiming to be able to lift tongue.gif. Anyone willing to post a picture of themselves? I'm just curious to see your builds.
