I think people are really overrating his acting skills...I can't stand his serious acting, it's just not believeable for me. It's not a bit different from him being serious in Fresh Prince, to him being serious in Hitch, to him being serious in Pursuit of Happiness...

I think he's a good actor, not the best, but he can get the emotions across.
He deserves to be in more comedic roles, instead of serious.

I think he's an excellent actor, not the best but he's up there. The best actor ever is Nana Patekar. If you watch any of his new new movies or any that he's worked in you'll agree.

No matter... after finding out he's a scientologist he's pretty much lost any appeal he had.

Oh yea lol, that too. I completly forgot about that.

He's not a scientologist, I seem to recall him saying that he's a christian (yes, i know that's almost as bad tongue.gif).

As for acting, I don't think he's particularly good in serious roles but he's pretty good in comedy/action roles. Having said that he was also pretty good in I am legend and that was slightly serious, though it was mostly actiony. 1we8.gif

Those are just rumors, he hasn't admitted it or anything.

I thought he was great in The Pursuit of Happiness. He was oscar tipped for that role.....he should have got an oscar for Ali......and I'm sure he will get one in the future.

I think his range of acting roles disguises how good he actually is. One minute you see him being the funny guy and the next he is doing something serious that requires him to display great depth in the role he plays.

One of my favourite actors for sure.

I've always enjoyed his movies. Haven't found one I didn't like yet. I rented Pursuit of happiness but never got around to watching it.

I remember him saying that he's not officially affiliated to any church or religion, but he's interested in learning all he can about them. If I can find the article, I'll post it.

But anyway, I think he's quite a good actor. He's one of the few actors who can play both funny and serious very well. He was hilarious in the Men in Black movies, moving in The Pursuit of Happyness (the 'y' isn't a mistake, that's actually the official movie title), and fantastic in I Am Legend especially. He was the only actor in that movie for the large majority of the film. To make a great performance when you're practically alone in each scene shows how great he is. He will definitely win an Oscar one day no doubt.

EDIT: RAWR Joe. RAWR.

That is how I spelt it originally tongue.gif. The edit to my post was to change the spelling. Whoops.

From imdb.com

QUOTE
It was the misspelled name of the son's daycare. Will Smith's character refers to it several times during the movie, one of which was right before he and his son share their nicknames and the meanings of those nicknames. Also, the name is painted on the front window of the daycare and can be clearly seen at times.

Anyone seen the trailer for the new Will Smith movie? Looks pretty funny. It's going to be one of his more light hearted roles in recent times tongue.gif.

As far as I know, his scientology affiliations go about as far as "It's interesting, but not for me."

*shrug*

I enjoy his movies, though I wouldn't say they're cinematic masterpieces. He tends to play the anti-hero role quite well (I Am Legend and I, Robot, especially).
