think Tank? wazzat? I'm still very much intrested in helping codex in whatever way you'll permit.
Think Tank is the group responsible for handling the codex projects these days.
Essentially, members are unhappy with the speed in which the staff manages projects. We say we'll do something and then the topic gets buried after an influx of other topics, or there's simply no one available to develop and program the projects we want to do.
To solve this, I had a random thought during a mini staff meeting - a thinktank area. What will happen is, there will be a group of about 30 or so members who will be given access to this area (although I expect many won't be active all the time, it's just staff alone is 17 people right now, soon to be 21 I think, so while there'd be a lot of members in the area, not everyone would be available to work on projects all the time).
If you're in here already, it's because you're already good enough to qualify in some respect and unless you object to being apart of this, then we'd love to have you as apart of the team.
I will be making an announcement asking for other members to apply once the area is set up a little more.
If you object, it would be easier if you just ignored the area rather than having perms taken away.
What will happen in this area is you will be grouped into a team of 4. One member must be staff, one must be a programmer and/or tech team, then one more person should be a leader or have significant expertise in a particular aspect of the site. The remaining member will be someone with some expertise in an area we want to focus on - this spot will be taken up by applications. The last person will be there to bring their ideas to the table while also making sure the general public have their say.
An example team would be for the neopets sector:
Staff: Kitsune (neopet leader)
Tech/Programmer: Laser Wave (obvious
)
Leader: Sunscorch (neopet leader, knows some programming and some gfx)
Member: Oaken (knows the neopets scene quite well, and can represent private, also knows some gfx)
Once teams are developed according to that group's expertise, they will be assigned projects. Everyone here right now can see the project management section.
And example project for the above team is to create a battledome simulator for the site. The team would find out from the public what they want in simulator, would develop the look of it, and discuss who should be given access, and all similar issues relating to the project, and then from there, Laser Wave could take over the last part of actually creating the tool.
Of course, the teams would not have to be all neopet related. Another team might be in charge of error fixing, another for making mods for the site, another for handling issue with teams, another for maplestory or gaia, etc. And there can be more than one team for an area if there's call for it... neopet tools is a large aspect and may require a second group. Teams can be reshuffled if there's a need and it would be a lot more flexible than I've probably made it seem.
If need be, the requirements of having someone with expertise in some area, can be removed for certain teams, for example... error fixing would not require a leader, although it would require maybe more than one tech team member.
So, that's all I have to say, if you have questions or anything, feel free to ask away
I'll probably be making it up as I go along
From the Think Tank area. We have a few projects almost ready for release already.
