If you know me in real life you'll know how much I truly hate disney crap like montana and the jonas brothers. And the reason is simply this: they're just a bunch of twats who pitch their voices, strum a few chords and call it rock. I was content by simply ignoring them but recently they pulled a stunt that really pissed me off.

They covered "Hello Goodbye" by The Beatles for a Target commercial with the o-so-intended pun "Hello Good buy". It makes me even more mad when some black dude on inside edition called them "the next beatles". >_< I looked into it and apparently they broke one of their own cardinal rules "Never cover a Beatles song" but said, "the oppurtunity was too amazing to refuse". Translation, "too much dough to pass up". Paul McCartney's response, "Thank you for turning a beautiful song into a corporate shrill".

Talk about how it used to be about the music and not the money.

ROFL, agreed.

Anyways, I happen to think the Jonas Brothers are a plague to society. They can't even play their instruments, especially the drummer, who me and my friends have concluded doesn't actually drum for any of the songs. I wasn't aware that those shitty-ass Beatles ripoff songs were by the Jonas Brothers; although I already abhored those abysmal songs and commercials, knowing this will only fuel my strong dislike towards them. The other day I read an article comparing the Jonas Brothers to The Beatles -- an absurd comparison. I'm not a huge Beatles fan, but comparing Jonas Brothers to the The Beatles is a crime. The Beatles were actually talented musicians and composers, while the Jonas Brothers are a disgrace to their respective instruments and can't compose a song even as complicated as "Hot Cross Buns" (though perhaps some disney shithole that does it for them could). I think that Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and Disney are very responsible for dumbing down kids and some dumb teenagers these days. Senseless cartoons and terrible shows including Spongebob, Drake and Josh, iCarly, Fairly Odd Parents, Hannah Montana, Power Puff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Pokemon, Digimon, Naruto, Bleach, Yugioh, and all anime (sue me, I think it's terribly stupid) are mind-numbing and reflect stupidity and naivety of some children in this day and age.

Edit: in some sense, money has been a consideration for a large percentage of artists. I agree though, there's way too many pointless songs with no meaning these days, especially rap (if you even consider it music).

I myself, working in retail, am totally fucking sick of all the Disney kids trying to sing and having to sell their stupid ass product. Hannah Montana//Miley Cyrus has some weird ass teeth. O.O And she puts out too many damn DVDs and Cds. -.-
I didn't know about the Target thing. But that's pretty lame to butcher a Beatles song. The next Beatles? HAHAHA.

WTFever. Miley Cyrus is like, the next fucking Britney Spears. And the Jonas Brothers? I don't know, I've never heard their shit but I'm pretty sure it's not worth a second of my time. 1we8.gif

Fuck 'em all!

O.O

I haven't seen too many animes, but have you ever seen Death Note? Imo, it's a very complex and VERY well thought out
story. It's not for just stupid little kids. It's a good one. -nod- ((but then again, it's not shown on those channels, either))

Some of the anime that's more adult oriented is really good.

Can't say I've seen it, but all the animes I've seen have at least one of the following:
- Excessive and unnecessary violence, nudity, etc (dragon ball z is a good example, it's so unintelligent).
- Mindless, flashy backgrounds, stupid facial expressions, huge eyes, tiny or huge mouths (an inevitable response to this will be "but that's just part of the anime style!" I find these to be mind-numbing).
- Chinglish (it can refer to japanese I believe, you should get the picture though).
- Corny, stupid, childish (pokemon, naruto, digimon, yugioh, sailor moon, dragon ball z etc.).
- Gay or sexually abnormal (anime is riddled with gay males, females, crossdressing, and for some reason, the perverted cartoonists seem to have some sort of cat fetish. Not necessary in a cartoon if you ask me).
- Pointless (animes are usually pretty good about having some point, though it usually falls under one or more of the preceding categories. I bet if an anime didn't fall under one of those categories, it'd fall under this one).

Those qualities make anime completely undesirable.

Like gooba said that describes crap-anime that you see in north american channels. I personally liked digimon's first 3 seasons, but that's just me tongue.gif Check out Ghost in a Shell: Stand Alone Complex if you get a chance.

It's a definite possibility, but it's also a probability that so have the mindless kids who watch anime. I'm not sure about what cable provider you have, but with Verizon cable, which features hundreds of channels, these dumb shit shows are the only animes available. I'm sure you'll agree that those I've mentioned dumb down youth.

I am not sure about Canada and Mexico but the U.S. government loves educated citizens who question them, it's fundamental to democracy. Besides, it's not in the control of the government that dumb little kids watch that mindless crap -- blame the kids and the creators of the crap.

holy shit brooke x_x

but YES!! thank you for starting this topic! omg. all these disney "bands" are *really* starting to piss the shit out of me. i think the thing that got me, was i was watching this commercial for this straight-to-dvd movie called "rock camp" and it's nothing but disney pop stars dancing around and singing like pansies.... WTF. where i come from, when i hear someone say "rock" i think of crunchy guitars, big drum solos, and no dancing involved (unless you're aerosmith, or guns & roses).

my wife and i were having a discussion the other day about how impure the music has become. people are just in it to make a good sound and a few bucks. back in the day people had a message, and record companies just happened to pay them. it's not like it was bad, but i've been listening to a lot of john lennon lately, and just listening to how raw and humane his sound was. he wasn't doing his solo stuff for the money. he was doing it because he wanted to tell people something. listen to "working class hero", and that's a song for the people. "woman" and "jealous guy" literally sounds like he was just playing piano to yoko and happened to record it.... not even gonna get into "imagine" -_-

it's sick how low are standards are as a society, accepting the shitty music that's pushed by the record companies. SICK SICK SICK. it's not real, the artists don't make it themselves... *sigh*

I have to respectfully disagree with you here. I can't come up with that many examples I can prove here, but some bands like The Clash sold double albums (London Calling) for the price of one album, and didn't even include their biggest single on the back of the album cover song list (they came up with the song shortly before the album was to be released, and the artwork was already done). They also sold Sandinista, a triple album, for the price of a single album. If you listen to most of their songs, they might not be the most musically brilliant songs, but they convey a point. I doubt The Clash were the only artists conveying a meaningful message (unlike the other artists who preach about drugs, sex, money like your stereotypical rapper).

Disney fags that some little girls seem to be attracted to. They pretend to be musicians but the truth is that they're about as talented as the stupid little girls they attract. http://www.jonasbrothers.com/
