Proof once and for all that there is no such thing as an English accent.

That makes absolutely no sense at all lol...I think what he's trying to say is that they've all got different dialects.

But they certainly don't have the same accent either. tongue.gif

It does make sense...it's just wrong tongue.gif

Agreed. Tried talking to Ian once and literally couldn't understand half of what he said.

Anyway I've done one too, but changed it since I'm not English smile.gif

NOTHING like an Australian accent? Really? Nothing like it?

Crikey.

"Attachment space used 14.3MB of 1000K"

someone needs to reset that and I can upload it.

the attachment size is bigger because I did more uploading of shit back in the day when i was mod and had bigger space etc

so if anyone could nicely do that

I think she came off just as light heartedly as she intended.

I'm ethnocentrist now? Can't I just poop on the party in peace without such wild accusations?

You assumed, by non-English, she means American. I'm gonna say that's ethnocentrist XD

And I made that post BEFORE your Eurocentrism topic.

Nope, don't buy it. I'm not being Americentrist or whatever it is you're suggesting by doing more than alluding to the fact that the majority of the English speaking population happens to come from a place called 'America.' I love Indians, Australians, Filipinos, and Kiwis too, but theres no paticular reason you needed to label me as ethnocentrist for was talking about the majority of people on this website - who happen to be also probably the least likely to be able to tell differences among different citizens of the UK. I'm not impyling this thread is somehow anglocentric, because I can tell the difference between when you use the word "English" linguistically and you use it to refer to the culture.

Athean, seriously, I was only messing around. English people have the stereotype of being posh and snooty and such, I was just being that stereotype to make the opening post a little more interesting then 'Post your voice samples! happy.gif' tongue.gif. 'The Non-English' was just an extenstion of that snootyness as it was a convenient and slightly rude way to refer to the rest of you. I promise you though no insult was intended tongue.gif. Nor any kind of political suggestion or or...well anything else. It was only because people have aaaaaalways refered to just one singular English accent, which is ridiculous really, but also because our country is quite interesting for being so small and yet having sooo many different accents, and because I'm English myself, this topic was targetted toward English peeps and showing how many different accents we had. However I did invite anyone else to do the same, but I did do so in my stereotypically snotty way, which I just expected everyone to realise was a joke tongue.gif.

Actually Blackpool is really quite a long way away from Wales, we have Southport and Liverpool between us and it.

For some unknown reason they do seem to, god knows why, I think they secretly want their lives cut short by a chav mugging.

Send me the file on MSN I can save it at a much muuuuch lower file size then that, when I initially saved my recording it was like 1.5mb and then I resaved it in Sound Forge and it went down to 71kb tongue.gif.

Sorry, I regretted making that post. I know what you were meaning, and Stephanie can attest to a convo I had with her about how I bitched at you to realize it was a funny topic meant for the Enska of codex right after i posted the first post i edited. (Icelandic, sorry)

Maybe i was being a bitch but sorry i made that unseen comment except by a few. I was just being an intellectual mofo after reading a Noam Chomsky book who saw the opportunity to be a faggot and go for it. So sorry, I've talked to you before your status before and you were nice and i dont want to ruin anything. What's your msn status now? PM or whatever

Haha no hard feelings or anything don't worry, I know you'd editted it out and if it wasn't for you and Ange continuing to post about it I would have just left it at that, an editted out mistake tongue.gif. It was only because I'd gathered the jist of what was going on that I replied, I didn't want you getting the wrong impression of this topic, which you didn't anyway so it's all good happy.gif. Always better to hear it again from the horses' mouth though, or donkey's in my case (as many people love to point out).

PMed you too.
