I had a quick google to try and find something about a kid I watching something about once, who was blind and developed a strange form of sonar to allow him to 'see'. He makes a noise with his mouth, and listens to where the sound waves reflect to allow him to do things such as roller blade, play playstation etc.

I managed to find a link with a video, but it also has some other strange things on there, such as a boy who could do huge calculations without actually thinking about them, he just sees them as images. He can learn a language in a week, and memorised Pi to 22,500 places. He got this ability after having an epileptic fit 1we8.gif

Holy cow. 22 500 places?! Is he part supercomputer? Wow, this stuff is really impressive. How does he play PS1 though, he cant sense anything from soundwaves can he? Its just a flat tv screen blink.gif. Nonetheless, very impressive stuff there. Nice find.

I know that's what I thought. It's not like the games give him a sense of depth or anything. I guess he just plays specific games or something. Still, sonar vision is pretty cool tongue.gif

I saw a show on tv about a kid who could do that....dunno if its the same one though

Nerdy side note: I know that there are lots of competitions around the US and maybe the world in which people compete to rattle off memorized digits of pi. They've shown it on ESPN before lol. I've got like 50 digits memorized just for fun

The world record for memorised digits of pi was broken the other day I believe. I'm sure I read it on the BBC. 80,000+

Ummmm... well I knew this one kid who was ultra flexible so he could reach up a vending machine and get snacks or soda. That's useful. Stealing, but useful.
