I went all day without a cigarette yesterday. I haven't smoked one today. Yet. Who knows?

Tomorrow will be day 3. I will report on any cheating that I do etc.
Any ideas on helping me last longer? Things to avoid doing?
I'm kinda starting this up right now to take my mind off my crazy nicotine cravings.

By the way, I don't consider smoking cigars cheating. tongue.gif

Comments? Concerns? Drop a line in this thread. wink.gif

Smoking cigars is definitely cheating lol. tongue.gif

Try chewing gum to take your mind off it? You can even get nicotine chewing gum these days. tongue.gif

Firstly get the idea of lasting longer out of your head. You need to be 100% sure you won't smoke again, those days are over. I wouldn't smoke cigars, if anything they'll constantly remind you of smoking and it'll annoy you that you can't take them back.

As for tips on lasting, I can't help. I've never had any success tongue.gif

Well really, I still wanna smoke socially... I just don't want to be at the point where I smoke so much for no reason. I'm currently refusing to smoke at all 'till my cravings die down.

If your friends say they are going out for a smoke, don't go with them. If they're going to a bar, keep a fucking drink in your hand to avoid the ciggies.

I quit for a week just two weeks ago, just to prove that 'first three days are hardest' bullshit. It isn't hard if you want to.

You should probably go for a nonalcoholic drink, otherwise you'll have a whole new set of problems.

Have something to keep your hands busy. Maybe learn how to do those stupid annoying pen flicking tricks.

On that note, try and learn something new so that you keep your mind off it. Not sure if that will help much but it might help.

You have to be absolutely sure you want to quit or you aren't likely to succeed. Saying you still want to smoke socially isn't a good idea. People are a lot more understanding these days about people quitting smoking.

If anyone mocks you for quitting, you have the absolute right to punch them. Truth.

lol, I started this thread to keep me busy! smile.gif
But, drama has struck. This person is stressing me out right now and I'm dieing for a cigarette. I might go for a cigar. sad.gif

I think I will install VB again and brush up on it a bit.
I hate it when my friends find out I'm quitting and say "Quit tomorrow. Smoke today!" sad.gif

I work at a bowling alley, so naturally I smoke 3 packs a day dry.gif Step One: I'd suggest creating and attaching mini bombs to your cigarrettes. Then, when you go to light one, it implodes. Yes, implodes. If it explodes, I'm sure youll dive to inhale the rat poision thats rapdily escaping rolleyes.gif

That, or hire someone to pour a bucket of cold water over your head any time you want to smoke. Granted, it might make you colder, thus pushing toward a smoke, but if you've accomplished step one, then you shant have a problem

You could also try hypnotherapy. It's worked for one of my friends, but also failed for others.

Smoking weed is tough at first if you feel the desire to get even more high...so if you wanna smoke, i'd say high potency weed in large quantities (blueberry, og kush, skunk, etc.)

I've quit smoking for about two months now. I smoked in excess one day after a week of trying to quit initially, and it made me sick to my stomach. Now I just drink a lot of coffee and tea in supplementation.

Try to do a hobby a lot and focus intensely on it. When I tried quitting the first time it sucked because I would constantly phase into these moments where I'd think of all the diseases smoking causes and then having a craving as a result of a picture of black lungs.

Or better yet, don't be a quitter like most of us faggots did. Did Anthony Burgess quit? Did Frank Zappa quit? No. Were they cooler than shit? Yes (disregard that Burgess had fifteen to twenty golfball sized tumours on his left lung alone and frank zappa had prostate cancer which spread to his bones.) Therefore you shouldn't quit. In fact, consume more. Go through two and a half lighters a day and smoke while you're getting chemotherapy and writing your memoirs as a best selling author.

Yeah, I don't know. I told my friends not to give me smokes but they still do.

Yeah, I'm thinking about takin up planting or something for a hobby. Then I'm afraid I'd attempt to grow tobacco or something.

Everytime someone mentions a cigarette its like my lungs are hungry.

I realize it's tough to place yourself in one's shoes, so instead I'll place myself in the cigarrette.........

.............
..........................

it's gross. Yea, if you wouldn't live in it, I wouldn't suggest allowing it anywhere near your body. Quite honestly, these things are a matter of your own self-conscious. It's as simple as choosing life over death. In the long run, we opt for death because it's resides in that ever-popular "Beyond" section in Bed, Bath, and Beyond. But unless you want to spend your life browsing a bunch of random knick-knacks, I suggest you travel somewhere else, and do things you haven't done before. And yah, you could actually travel to another destination if you wish(and have the money -____-") My (long,drawn-out) point: Do new things.

yeah, toothpicks, lolipops... anything that can replace that "need" to have something in your hand or mouth. a lot of the time, people who try to get off smoking with just the gum end up going back because they're also used to having something there period. 1we8.gif

Haha, every day for the past seven days, I've tried to quit smoking weed or smoking cigarettes, and each time failed.

- Make a list of all the reasons why you want to quit or write down negative effects that come from smoking.
- Don't drink for a day or two. Drinking is a horrible trigger--we all know that--and it's the easiest to avoid.
- Try being reclusive. If you return into the same environment with a different attitude, it's so much easier to return to the nature of that environment if you don't have time inbetween those actions.

Quick update.
Smoked a cig today. Only one though. Haven't had the urge to smoke more though. smile.gif
Kinda feel good about that, even though I did smoke 1. 1 over the course of 3 days isn't bad.
And yes, I agree. Smoking weed and drinking are both horrible triggers. :\
