So basically I'm living in a not very good house and paying just as much as other students on our street who are living in newly decorated and very lovely houses, simple, but it's new and clean and there isn't masking tape holding down the carpet in the doorways. We're realising that rushing into our house decision has kinda left us with a bad deal, but we were told that once houses were available to do it really fast else you'd run out of places, which apparently is utter bollocks given how many 'student rooms for let' signs there are.

However, I really want to moan because I just found a slug in our kitchen dry.gif. It's like the fourth slug we've had worming (slugging?) it's way in there and we have absolutely no clue how they're getting in. Of all the pests to have, we have to have the slimiest ugly things ever, at least they're easy to catch x-x.

So, anyone got any interesting stories about how terrible where they live is? I'm significantly less interested if it's a story about how wonderful it is btw dry.gif.

Can you tell I'm bored? I ought to be getting ready for an interview right now, the slug distracted me sad.gif.

I heard that slugs are attracted to beer so maybe someone spilt some? Just put some beer in a couple jars and bury them up to the top in some soil near each of your house's entrances and it'll keep all the slugs out of your house

My place doesn't have AC (mid-atlantic USA), but thankfully it has heat. The bathroom wouldn't pass any sort of state mandated health inspection. The paint on the ceiling falls off in chunks when you shower and reveals the mold that they have been painting over for the last 30 years. There seems to be a tiny enough hole in my window screen to let in the occasional fly, but like I said, no AC means open windows til it gets cold. Other than those things it isn't too bad

Sorry, I feel nothing for something you rushed into espically as that's what you get for not getting a job. (Do love the word slugging though.)

However, later on I will explain how us student's must join together in my new hate campaign.

Slugs? WTF D: FILE A COMPLAINT.

The worst problem I've ever had back when I stayed in student accomodation was a whole bunch of bugs [i.e. wasps, bees, cockroaches, weird unidentified creepy crawlers], but that's because my hostel is situated in forest-y areas x:

Hey, if we had thought that we'd have had time not to rush into it we would have looked properly, but they just kept talking at us about once the list was released you had to move really fast so you didn't miss out, and any house was better then no house at all. Don't understnad your job reference, we're paying the average rate anyway, it just happens to be for a lesser quality house then other people paying the same, the amount we paid would stay the same regardless really. I have a job now anyways and I only didn't have one last year because I couldn't get one tongue.gif. (And glad you do)

Nah everyone hates us here. I'm thinking of setting up a campaign for students against SouthEastern Railways because they offer no student discounts.

Ooh. Nah. I intend to put off proper jobs for as long as possible. Why the hell would I want to be giving the government money when I can just take it off them?

As for your campaign, surely you're exempt from student discount because you aren't a student? You kinda have to be a scrounger to get that nifty little railcard, unless it's different for you folks down south. Not that I actually know what you're doing with your life, last I knew though you weren't interested in Uni.

Young Person's Railcard is 16-25, regardless of being a student.

And why should a secondary school child pay for something essiential as travel when they get free oyster cards? And why is it that someone who can earn up to 40-50k a year get the same discounts as someone who barely reaches the tax bracket?
