I was definitely wrong when I thought we were getting anywhere with this. As with every other discussion regarding religion on this forum (and almost certainly every other discussion regarding religion which has ever taken place in history) it's near impossible to persuade somebody to question their beliefs when they're so embedded.

I changed someone's mind about BBT, once. On RD.net :p
That was a good day.

Err if you don't know if they're a guy or a girl what are you supposed to say he/she every other sentence? That's not an assumption it's a way of reffering to people if you don't know if they're a guy or a girl or if theyre a guy so that's not an assumption =).

How about the delightfully gender-neutral "they"? ;)

"They" can be plural, but it can also be singular.
Just like "you".

I'm a plural? Alright so how would this sentence work.
They went to the movies.
He went to the movies.

To a rational person wouldn't that sound completely different?

Objection.

they
1.nominative plural of he, she, and it.
2.people in general: They say he's rich.
3.(used with an indefinite singular antecedent in place of the definite masculine he or the definite feminine she): Whoever is of voting age, whether they are interested in politics or not, should vote.

NO IT'S STILL A THEORY

Luckily, they're not mutually exclusive.
You'll be pleased to know that you are, in fact, both ^_^
