I've always had a problem sleeping.

Drinking a glass of wine helps. Weed gets the job done wonderfully.

Avoid caffeine 4-5 hours before you sleep. Subtle, but caffeine is a stimulant.

Don't do something mind simulating like play video games before sleeping. Reading before you sleep always works.

Exercise definitely helps.

Not all of us have the luxury of being able to blaze before sleep tongue.gif And like I said, I don't drink caffeine. I could try going for a run or something before I go to bed, but last time I tried that I froze my ass off, but I don't have a coat so maybe I should go buy one. And like I said I'm already pretty tired when I get home.

Recommend some books.

Work out. If you're not really expending any energy, you're going to have a harder time sleeping.

No, that's a bad idea, it actually stimulates your body and mind and keep you going for hours before you intend to sleep.

Basically, if you're not in a routine, you need to get one. It can be hard, espically if you do stuff like night shifts or burn the midnight oil, but always try and sleep and get up at roughly the same time every day.

What do you do in bed (not in a sexual way) other than sleep? Do you eat, read, go on your laptop or whatever? Well stop all that and use you bed for what it was made for, sleeping. It gets your mind and creates a schema in which when you get into bed, your mind tells your body it's ready to sleep and relax.

I wouldn't reccomend pills or tablets unless you see a GP or doctor first, no need to add more chemicals into a body that's already skewered with, unless it's causing drastic problems.

I'd say you need to read up on what's making you tired constantly, but don't worry, your body can cope with as little as 4 hours sleep a night, although a preferred 6-7 hours a night is usually good enough.

I have a sleeping problem as well.
I get dead tired by like 11 or 12pm and go to bed.

For no reason what so ever (most of the time) I wake up 2-3 times a night, average.
And take a while to fall back asleep.
Waking up in the middle of the night is like losing so many hours of sleep 1we8.gif

I get headaches n all the shit that comes with lack of sleep, and sleeping in on my days off isnt really helping.
(I woke up like 5 times last night, rofl)

I dunno what to do, especially since I do not want to take sleeping pills.
So for me, it's not the fact of falling asleep... it's staying asleep.

I pretty much just lay in bed and sleep. I don't really have anything in my room to distract me.

I'm actually fairly sure it's because I end up thinking too much though. That's what happened last night at least, just starts with "I wonder if I can sleep tonight" then I start thinking of reasons why I can't sleep, and it continues on and on. Anyone know a good way to clear your mind?

If anyone has a thought on how to solve my sleep problems it'd be appreciated:
I wake up 1-3 times a night and freak out that the clock is actually pm instead of am and so I'm meant to be at work or uni, etc. Any time from midnight through to 4am usually. Doesn't happen every night, probably 3-4 times a week. Half the time I don't remember doing it at all.

John is used to it now and knows what to say to get me to stop freaking out, but for some reason I'm developing like... resistence to his logic now.
For instance, he would normally say "It's the middle of the night, it's dark, go back to sleep." Which worked for a while. Except now I start to doubt him or outright refuse to believe him. I even opened the curtains to see what it looked like outside just to check if it was dark. Or I'll jump up and out of bed so quickly that he doesn't get a chance to say anything.

Really, really, really annoying. Help?

Completely missed this somehow, but anyway. Are you stressed out about anything? I recall this happening to me during exams at school. Except I'd take a nap when I got home, wake up at 7pm and think it was 7am and freak out. The fact that you don't believe him is just you being sleepy and out of it, most likely.

No idea about this sorry.

I'm having deja vu about posting about this a while ago. Anyway, having some odd troubles sleeping. I tend to lay around in bed for hours trying to sleep, and even when I'm exhausted it still takes me a while. Also, when I wake up, I cannot go to back to sleep, no matter how tired I am or how long I've slept for. I've only talked to one person about it (recently anyway) and they've told me it's because I tend about things too much and it bothers me to the point where I cannot sleep. I agree with that to a point, but I would imagine I would be too tired to think of anything too complicated. It's probably all in my head, but the more I try to tell myself that, the more I think, the more I can't sleep, etc.

It's gotten to the point where I just stay up and don't even want to try to sleep because it feels like a waste of time just laying there for hours. I've tried listening to some music, which sometimes works. Other times the headphones will feel uncomfortable or I feel like the sound is keeping me awake. I'd try drinking some warm milk, but I'm allergic.

Anyone experience something similar? Or have any suggestions at all? I'm open to trying most anything.
