That's the equivalent of telling a girl who was raped that she shouldn't have drinken that much alcohol.

But on any level, alcohol is a strong sedative alone, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone could withstand that many cuts without waking solely on alcohol. Adding valium to that only would have sedated him more. It does a pretty good job of making you pass the fuck out.
