Hi everyone,

This is just a warning to refrain from posting direct links to Neopets until we get the anonymizer running. We have disabled all posting of neopets.com urls as well. Websites keep track of where outside users came from, and Neocodex will certainly land on this list if we keep using direct links.

They have a particular dislike for Neocodex and they have shown this in the past (often with no legitimate reason since many among us are legit Neo users), and so this is for your own protection.

For the program users:
We've also just discovered that if you are importing cookies from your browser in our programs, any outside referers are being stored in the cookies.... which means you're sending them a history of where you came from on every page load. So if you clicked a link on codex that led you to neopets, this will be in the cookies until you reset your cookies. This does not affect people manually logging into our programs, only people importing login settings from Firefox/IE. We're currently working on versions that will scrub neocodex.us out of the cookies for your safety.

(There has been no knowledge of anyone being frozen in this fashion yet, but may as well be cautious.)

Vista - firefox users are lucky, then.

The cookie importer can't seem to find firefox, so the only cookie ever being imported for Vista users is an IE cookie... and I don't visit codex from there :p

I have Vista and I'm using Firefox. The programs have no trouble detecting my cookies.

Thankfully I'm not stupid enough to click any Neopets links here. O_o;

>=(

If I lose my precious account over this I'm going to fly up to Canada and kick your Canadian ass. I've invested so much time and effort into this account I really cannot afford to lose it. I honestly do not know what I'd do if I lost it. :(

Just clear your cookies and don't click links leading to Neopets. This has always been a danger tbh. :/

To check if NeoCodex is in your cookies go like this:
Tools > Options > Privacy > Show Cookies
Search neocodex and scroll through that list. If neopets is domain on any of those items clear your cookies and login again.

I hope one day neopets will like codex. With the admins legit push hopefully it'll be someday :)

Noit, we're going to overload the link parser class so that it redirects to anonym.to?<url>. That's what Laser was doing with the Items DB frontend. :D

Nope, that's what I'll be using. We'll package up LabZaps tomorrow and then I'll work on this :).

Wait so overload ipb files or no overload? You halted my overloading project because you had some other plan. There's gotta be some way through htaccess. Does anyone know?

I'll look into it. I wanted you to start work on more important things snce I can do the neo referer thing. I don't have the expertise to do something like neoalerts.

Am I the only one who lol'd at this? Either this is sarcasm or wtf.

Why would they accept a cheating community?

Because we probably give them quite a lot of page hits which looks good to investors? :p

With the way things are going right now, who would possibly put their money into Neopets? :p

What are cookies?

cookies are how a webpage remembers who you are.

Like when you sign into Yahoo.com, ever notice how you can leave the page open for an hour and not have to sign in again?... that's because of cookies. Without them, anytime you wanted to check your mail you would have to sign in again.

Yes, we have been filtering the links for some time now. Any link to neopets you click from neocodex is safe.

This is also from images that are directly linked as they send the referrer in the header as well.

I was wondering about the links to neopets, I actually just stumbled onto this post. I never really liked using the links from codex to neopets, the way I see it if I wanna go there I'll type in the address manually so no there are no mishaps but this makes me feel better. :D
