As with all neopets birthday stuff it will be retired. Since this book runs for 5k its clearly not commonly given out as one of the prizes. Secondly it will only be given away during this 10th year birthday, then it will be retired. Wether they title it retired or just stop producing it doesnt matter. We all know limited edition books always raise in price. Therefore the supply will only get lower with time but the demand for players to compete for the most books read will stay the same or possibly rise.

Only thing that can go wrong is if they keep releasing the book. Which doesnt make sense since its a birthday celebration prize.

Discuss.

But the cheapest time to buy is near the end of countdown, where supply would be the biggest.

Your technically right but keep in mind as word spreads on the idea, the price might stay the same or possibly rise depending on how many a person is buying at a time 1000+?

I probably wouldn't get 1000+. I don't have that much money lol.

I'm also considering trying this. It wouldn't be too much out of my pocket and the potential for profit seems pretty big.

What about the book "Space Exploration Guide"? It was given out as part of that planet 51 thing, and it says it's r101. I'm not sure if it counts as a booktastic book, but if it does demand will definately increase because people'll be trying to get that award as well. At the moment it's about 3k, good investment do you think?

It's a possible gold mine, but what use do people want with this book unless they want to read it to their pet or they want to collect it, and I'm pretty sure anyone who really cares about the book already got them since they are cheap right now.

If they do inflate like a sonofabitch, then they are probably going to be RTS, since they offer little use to anyone.

Didn't think about this. I'll probably invest in a few, probably 10 or so, and i'll wait till the end of the celebration.

Yes but this is a future investment the current buyer market really doesn't matter. But if it does retire there will be a quick jump in price because more people will be able to put 2 and 2 together and see that this will inflate. So if anyone wants a quick profit the possibility may exist.

Yes its a long term investment.
for example if there is 100,000 copies of the book it will be very cheap because of the vast supply. Now 1 year passes there is 80,000 copies left prices shoot up naturally. Now think 5 years the supply has been down to 25,000 due to a new generation of book readers, old generation used some of the supply, people have been frozen, inactivity or some noobs that picked it up and left the game. The price will shoot up dramatically. And by 10 years there might be 5,000 copies at best at this point the book is insanely expensive due to nearly no supply is left.
Of course this is just a simple example with numbers pulled out my ass, you never know what will happen to the market. As long as they stop being produced it will rise guaranteed. Even advent calender items have inflated in the last few years and those had a HUGE supply far greater then this.

nearly every single book that has been retired has hit unbuyable except the advent items whom have inflated but have not hit unbuyable point due to there mass supply. I see "the first decade" as a half way point between an advent like price and a normal book.

my 2 cents

All that text

So basically, you're saying that it's more of a long term investment then. Though, the item probably will inflate as the copies slowly disappear, but as the prices go up, the less people will become interested at all in buying them, if they ever wanted it to begin with.

It's all a game of patience and chance, and will take a long time before it's even worth a good profit, you'd be better just trying your luck with the Stock Market or getting an item that has more use then a book.

For sure it will pay off long term. But there is a chance there will be a spike in prices when the event is over especially if they label the items as retired. People will get excited and buy like crazy. I like to think of it the same way as when "White Ona" was released in the advent it peaked at 50k at night time and shot down 7k by morning. When something is no long available to people they stock up right away thinking there is a "lack of" so they temporarily dry out the supply before it can be met hence a spike in prices occurs. I am not seeing many people selling more then 1 copy of the book in their shops anyway. There is a chance but again its all based upon what TnT does. In very long term it can yield you millions.

Edit:
There will always be an interest in any given item especially ones that are one time use. I mean who would pay 20million for a stamp like island acare or ummagine? There is always a demand.

Enjoy your sudden buying frenzy and peak in prices, because that's generally the only time people will be constantly buying them, but that is if people actually will. It's a book, demand for books is generally low, and it will continue to decline as the prices increase over time, as less and less people will want to pay so much money for a single book unless they are determined to get a book award or something.

Stamps offer more than book can, both Avatars and Trophies, so it's obvious people would buy Stamps more than they do books, as they have a better reward than books do.

I think that's a very good observation. It's kind of like the Advent Calendar books...they always increase in price.
However, there's always the possibility that TNT would give them out in other events or games like Keyquest. At 5k right now, it's going to take a fortune to make the investment worthwhile. Stocking on a few doesn't hurt though:thumbsup:

Ultimately its up to you and your own reasoning but i see alot of illogical pointless shit go for far more like the birthday goodie bags. But one thing is a fact as ive been pointing out if there is a decline of supply the price of the product will go up guaranteed.

And I've been saying that the price can rise all it wants, if nobody wants it and the Demand is low, then you'll have a fun time selling it, and if the price continues to rise over time because of the decline of Supply, then the Demand will also decline along with it as people will not want to pay high prices for items that are virtually worthless, save the few situations where people actually want to read the book.

That would be the case with ANY item that has a low supply its common sense that if its expensive less people will want to buy it. But people still restock unbuyable plushies, furniture, etc of course it has a low demand but its earning potential is high. Trust me no one is going to have a problem at the very least throwing it in their shop for 99,999 when that point comes. Books have its place in the game, a new generation of retired item collectors will come around as well. So your telling us not to invest because the investment will raise in price greatly and were gonna have trouble selling it for 50x more then what we invested? BRB saving 5,000 cuz it will be hassle due to the lack of demand caused by high prices and the generally "uselessness" of books to sell it for 200,000 later on.

Oh, of course there is always the potential to sell, but not everyone has the Patience of a God and don't want to wait forever as the price as an item slowly raises.

I'm not saying not to invest in items because they'll be more expensive than they are now, I'm saying that there are easier and more efficient ways to toss your cash around then hoarding a bunch of books that only a small group of people have any interest in. Heck, it would be smarter to hoard "Gourmet Cooking For Your Pet" because those things will skyrocket in price come next August because those have actually have a use for a much larger group of people, as there are more Avatar Collectors as there are Book Readers.

(Oh yeah, a little off-topic, but why bother taking Beanso's Avatar, is it really THAT hard to grab some random image and use it for yourself? It's really annoying seeing a post and confusing you for Beanso because you decided to use his avatar.)

Im sure anyone here can spare 50k more or less and just leave it and earn big later... Just forget about it put it in your sdb and dont make it a big deal. Since your sippin on haterade on anyway and you you just had to try to point out an avatar because your reasoning is menial on the investment, im going to let you know this avatar is a part of the forum avatar packs. So i'm just using an avatar PROVIDED by the forum i didnt "steal" it from beanso. I didnt know certain avatars that came in big forum packs were reserved.
