I'm calling bullshit on you being a PC Oaken. Any bambi could easily figure this out on this type of case. Either that, GMP have some shit officers. (Or you're some shitty wannabe like a Railway enforcement officer lol.)

I didn't pass opinion on the topic, I simply said you were basically an attention seeker. I don't disagree with you completely. I wouldn't call it murder but he has given her a death sentence. You can't even call it manslaughter...because she isn't dead. What he did was horrible....but the reasons for it were not. His intention was not to kill her or even cause her pain but the fact of the matter is, he did.

No need to call bullshit by the way because you are correct, I am not a PC, yet. I have to wait for the next recruitment drive and a place will go straight to me. The reason being that less officers retired than expected due to the recession so they took on less officers than originally intended. When I was accepted they informed me that I would need to wait for a start date with GMP but offered me a transfer to another force that was recruiting. I said I would wait and the reason is because GMP are one of the best forces in the country.

I can only assume that you expected to get a rise out of me by accusing me of lying....better luck next time I guess.

GMP require a higher percentage in the assessments than most if not all other forces for a reason. I'm not saying the MET is bad....but GMP are certainly not shit.

That's true, but to claim it is a murder is like claiming that getting lung cancer off second hand smoke is a murder charge.

I'm half-surprised this hasn't happened yet...

Ahh yes so you decided to ignore a source of fact based on the fact it's a year old. (Seeing as the '09 stats won't be out yet, the newest ones would be '08).

Are you sure they offered you a place or did you dream it?

Man...that is just sick. No consideration whatsoever for the wife.

Manslaughter charge is for negligence, recklessness or carelessness. Murder is probably actual intention to cause a wrongful gain or loss.

Mainly because I can see and play Devil's advocate. I didn't defend the attack but saw the motive behind it and made a rational decision based on this account. Obviously if it was an act of revenge then the attack would call for a different punishment, but as the man was scared and upset; he was forced into a difficult postion and made the wrong choice.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you'd think it would at least qualify as an assault of some kind. Stabbing someone with a needle that is. O_o

And deliberately infecting somebody with a disease which is known to be the precursor for a almost totally fatal, incurable syndrome is not 'actual intention to cause a wrongful gain or loss'?

The logic there frightens me tremendously.

I would think that the man is responsible for a first degree murder charge. But judging from the sentence this guy is facing, he probably got a manslaughter or second degree murder charge.

Second degree is murder which is caused by, as wiki puts it, "a spur of the moment". An example I could think of is a guy who finds his wife cheating, he gets spurred up in the moment, and shoots her. Second degree murder.

I think I can understand the reasoning to classify this as a "crime of passion", which would fall under second degree. I don't think he wanted to kill his wife did he? I know it is likely the inevitable result but from the story it doesn't seem the guy was thinking all that clearly.
