An HIV-positive New Zealand man pricked his sleeping wife with a needle tainted with his blood, infecting her with the virus, court papers have revealed.
It is believed the man wanted to give her the virus, which leads to Aids, so she would have sex with him again, the New Zealand Sunday Star-Times reported.

According to the documents, the man twice pricked his wife with a sewing needle tainted with his blood.
The man has admitted infecting his wife and faces up to 14 years in jail.
The 35-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Auckland High Court early next year.

He probably thought he was in the clear because it was his wife.

I am wondering how he was exposed to the virus if his wife didn't have it though... I mean he would have had to have been sleeping around, or doing illegal substances, to pick it up after they were married. I assume this because I think they would have had sex before or right after they were married, and if they had sex that means he wouldn't have had the virus...

And damn, if he wanted to get laid THAT bad he should have just bought a hooker or something. Not like he would care if they pick up the virus

No, HIV doesn't automatically transpire to the aids virus. It isn't a death sentence anymore. If you look at the reasoning behind the assualt you'll see it isn't as clear cut as it seems to be.

It is and it isn't. What with the advances in research and the early detection that this woman had, she can live with HIV without it developing into AIDS for 20+ years. If she's lucky and has insurance. But, assuming nothing else kills her first, she will eventually die of AIDS.

Mainly because I can see and play Devil's advocate. I didn't defend the attack but saw the motive behind it and made a rational decision based on this account. Obviously if it was an act of revenge then the attack would call for a different punishment, but as the man was scared and upset; he was forced into a difficult postion and made the wrong choice.
