The other night, when I was more then a little high, I stumbled accross this video on youtube. An Italian professor wrote a song, using entirely english gibberish. The strange thing is, the word progression seems so natural that you are struggling to understand the words, even though they mean nothing. This is basically what someone who had no knowledge of english would hear if they turned on the radio in america.

I guess it has something to do wiht people bring their first language when learning their second. Should a french person write lyrics for a similar project, or a Japanese person, they'd be different, because there are some sounds that are more natural from those langagues and adapt to English than from Italian>English.

Also, the music seems to carry the words. It's like when someone sings a song, they don't know the words properly (to verses usually) so they just mumble them ,but its far easier to predict the way the music goes versus the lyrics. This is unless someone has heard the lyrics before the music and they can then attach meaning to the song. (if that makes sense)

It hurts my head listening to it, trying to work out the words lol.

And I agree with a commenter on the video who said it sounded like Simmish. Except, Simmish has more garble to it.

This song was actually written by an Italian musician to show Americans what English sounds like to people don't speak it. It doesn't actually have lyrics, it's pure gibberish. It's on my mp3 player.
