damn, this happens only in america, right?
here in europe they would never go as far as this
like for example, nivea's cream against cellulitis doesn't really work, or the danone's actimel to increase your resistance is as good as any yoghurt
but still they don't get sued or anything

Europeans and Australians aren't as litigious as Americans.

In saying that, the UK Consumer Watchdog nailed L'oreal last year for putting fake lashes on Penelope Cruze in an ad for mascara. So companies aren't compleatly off the hook.

But I agree, the beauty industry is far too underregulated.

Not so sure about the food industry. I'm sure it's claims aren't regulated enough, though.

i really hate it, its like they can get away with everything. I know that isnt entirely true, but there just have to be enough complaints & evidence to sue them. In america they are more strict, maybe it wouldn't be too bad to be more like that here
sometimes i even think they 'invent' problems in those commercials and then provide a 'solution'. In the end you just don't know anymore what to believe and what not. One can only try and ignore it ^^

So apparently, its a general lawsuit that can be claimed by american consumers for false advertising in their Eclipse chewing gum range as they falsely claimed that the magnolia bark extract in said gum would help to kill germs in the mouth. Such strangeness.

I LoLed at the statement made by the attorney representing the plaintiffs:

'We applaud Wrigley for ultimately agreeing to change the labeling and marketing of their Wrigley Eclipse product.'

Good job Wrigley! Hahaha.

I'm Canadian, though.

Please read what the date of the original post is and try again.

Also, you'd think you would think ahead when we're saying we already have our money, meaning it might be too late to try.

all $0 dollars of it. Why would wriggley give anything to charity when they are being brought up on a class action lawsuit. I'm guessing some marketers are going to be fired over this...

My thoughts exactly to this... USA, land of the frivolous, home of the greedy.
