So I guess I have been bored a little with Neopets lately, but that is probably what happens when you try to powergame it and you're working 60-70 hours a week. I'm almost done my gallery and with Auto Trainer soon enough the Snowager is about the only 1-Player opponent who I'll be having trouble with.

So out of sheer boredom, I've decided to set up a little bit of a game of sorts that I started three days ago. I had about 15 million NP liquidated, so I withdrew everything from my bank. From now on, the only NP I can make are from selling stocks, playing games, selling Unbuyables in Trades, and from selling items in my shop that already had a price on it. Any new items that I AB and throw into my shop will stay unpriced (but anything I recognise as an UB will still be going into Trades).

Since I did a few big trades, I'm now down to slightly more than 10 million, but once I stop trades my liquidated wealth will be going down slowly, since what I will be buying will be stocks, training, ABing items and upgrading my shop when I inevitably run out of room. Once I run down to 250k or less, I'll price everything over the course of a day, and see just how much I can make from my shop in one day (and what shop size and how many items I can get in the duration!)

And yes, I am keeping track of the numbers. The numbers will either be rounded up/down in case of the NP or slightly fudged in the case of the items and shop size just because I'm paranoid ;).

Thats good man but stocks are long long term investments. I mean like 6+ months. Even if the stock you bought today shot up to 300 the next day, you will only have max 1k of those stocks. so only 300k. with stocks you want to be making at least 2m each transaction

Speaking of Scot, I'm using the same list of shops he is except I'm doing Post Office instead of Plushie Palace.

And yes, I am indeed keeping track of day-to-day stats.

@Noitidart, I realise your first post is slightly mocking, but what I mean is that I can replenish my money supply from pretty much anything _except_ for pricing items in my shop. Stocks are long-term investments so I might make only a few 100k during the duration of my experiment.

I dunno, I purchase stocks each day, but if there is a choice between a stock I do have and a stock I don't have, I diversify into the one I don't have. I'd rather have 1000 of a stock at 214945234243 than 4000 of a stock at 12.

That being said, I sell at 60.

i found stocks not quite profitable either
seems like a cool experiment to me
however, some items are going down in price quick so i always price as soon as i can, even then there are items that i have to sell with a loss :(

Yes, a lot of items, especially those that are newer and at lower rarities, are inflated and decrease quickly. Eh, life goes on.

I think diversification isn't such a good idea on neopets. Its safe to diversify if theres a possibility of stocks crashing. On neo i would recommend you buy more of what you have the most of. If its at 15. Then when it goes up you hit it big.

Yes, but if it doesn't go up for a long time and meanwhile some other stock you could have bought does...

In that case, like I said, you'll have around 1k maybe 2 maybe 3. But maybe not, maybe you'll have more. Again it's a long term investment.

It seems random. Though. So nothing wrong with your style. They're all different styles. So far I only know these 2.

The only time I will "diversify" is if my current bunch of stocks are not within the 15-17 buy range.
I prefer having a lot in about 10-12 different companies than 1k shares in 25 or so.
Of course, this is only because stocks cant crash anymore apparently.

if that's the case then why dont you buy stocks that are worth more already (like 600 or so) ?
it's a bigger chance but when it goes up, you'll have more NP back than with a cheaper stock, right?

It's only 15k a day, and always makes a profit. No point not buying.

Good luck on your little experiment =). Just a warning though stocks are meant to be a long term investment it'll take around 9-12 months to start raking in the profit.

yeah ofcourse you'll make a profit, you just have to wait long enough before you can sell it with a decent profit, that's the thing
but if you'd use the same 15k to RS, you'd get way more profit and way faster too

@pathentic, I already had a portfolio beforehand of about 100k shares of stock over about 15 different stocks, so I meant that if one of those skyrocketed I would be making some money again
