I know a good amount of Perl, but want to start using Python. (I already know a few things, but all I can do is load a model in Panda3D ) Any tips?

PHP syntax is based largely on perl - you may find this an easier learning curve.

Okay, I'm gonna work on PHP for a while since a lot of websites use it.

In that case you should setup your own LAMP or WAMP server to get yourself started and start learning html and all the other web goodies and you'll be set for web development.
