I think it really depends on the people involved? If both partners are down for an open relationship, whether they both partake in it or not, and they keep open communication, why not? I think it's really, really, really important that people listen to one another when foraying outside the norm (or hell, even within it) so as to not blindside each other with anger/jealousy.
